The Richland County – Shelby Chapter maintains a reference library in the Marvin Room in the lower level of the library. The collection contains books of land records, births, deaths, census, cemetery, military service, Shelby high school yearbooks, city directories, and history of Richland County, as well as other Ohio counties.
The Genealogy Library is open the same hours as the library – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Through the Ohio Web Library (OWL), Marvin Memorial Library also offers Ancestry Library Edition, Fold3, HeritageQuest, African American Heritage, and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. The resources, with the exception of Ancestry, can be accessed from outside the library with a library card. Ancestry Library Edition can only be accessed in the library.
