Ralph H. Phillips ’62

Since graduating from SHS, Ralph Phillips ’62 has demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial drive, outstanding business acumen and extraordinary care for Shelby and its people. From a converted garage in 1967, Ralph has developed a manufacturing company that now occupies three facilities and 500,000 square feet. In so doing, he has contributed significantly to the region’s economy and created numerous jobs for area residents.

Then there are his contributions to the community. Ralph funded construction of the Shelby City Building on North Gamble Street and Siegfried Park. He bought the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company building on Mansfield Avenue and, working with Ohio State University, converted it into an academic facility that benefits students and the community. Says one alum, “If ever there was an SHS graduate who showed his heart is in his town, it’s Ralph Phillips.” Ralph lives in Shelby.
